Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar finally made his Indian Premier League debut on April 16 against Kolkata Knight Riders. The son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has played four matches in IPL 2023 so far and managed to put up a decent performance. Arjun had a forgettable night after the match against Punjab Kings where he conceded 48 runs, including 31 in one over, but in MI's last match against Gujarat Titans (GT), he bounced back, registering figures of 1/9 in the two overs.

MI lost to GT by 56 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, April 25 to drop to seventh place in the points table. MI bowlers did well in the first 10 overs, but then they lost the momentum and conceded huge runs in the death overs leaving GT with a huge score of 207 runs. However, Arjun, who completed his two overs inside the powerplay, did well to take his third wicket of the season at an economy of 4.5.

He did all that was asked of him: MI bowling coach

Speaking after the match, MI bowling coach and former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond praised Arjun's effort and said that they will work on increasing his pace a bit.

"He did well today . After what happened in the last game, it’s never easy to step out onto the ground that is a Colosseum with a big crowd. We would like him to work on increasing his pace a little bit, but he did all that was asked of him today," Bond told reporters.

When MI was going to bundle GT in an average score, Abhinav Manohar and David Miller put on a brilliant partnership to get the team total team above 200. Commenting about their bowling performance, Bond said:

“It’s a combination of things. We’re not executing what we need to. We’ve got pretty simple plans. Watch how we bowled in an area. We got hit and immediately resorted to some changes.

"The first six overs were tough for both teams, as it would get difficult for the bowling team because of the dew factor. We were trying to stop the damage to our run rate, which has taken another big hit tonight."
