New Zealand thumped a toothless Pakistan side in the 4th consecutive T20I by 7 wickets at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. With this victory, the Black Caps have now taken a 4-0 lead in the five-match match and are now aggressively marching towards a clean sweep against Pakistan t their home turf.

An emphatic record 93-ball 139-run unbroken stand between Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Philips took the match away from Pakistan after a terrific spell from Shaheen Afridi which got New Zealand languishing at 20 for 3.

While chasing a below-par total of 159 runs, New Zealand were left in a spot of worry by Shaheeh’s opening bust but Mitchell (72 not out) and Philips (70 not out) had some other plans as they took the attack to Pakistan’s camp and eventually emerged victorious with 11 balls left.

Pakistan's below-par show with the bat continues

After putting it into bat first by New Zealand, Pakistan batters never looked in a commanding position with the bat. The state of the Pakistan innings was quite dire, but a late resurgence from Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Rizwan during their 6th wicket partnership added 32 runs in the final 17 deliveries, enabling them to set a competitive total.

Mohammad Rizwan emerged as the top performer for the visiting team, delivering an impressive innings of 90 runs from 60 deliveries. Additionally, Mohammad Nawaz contributed effectively with a quick cameo at the end, scoring 21 runs off 9 deliveries. Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson were the pick of the bowlers who got two wickets each at a miser economy rate.
