Mumbai Indians(MI) was known as one of the best and most popular teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but recently they are making to the headlines as the most notorious team. At the helm of affairs is none other than Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder from Baroda is getting a lot of hate on social media as soon as he was appointed as the captain of Mumbai Indians replacing Rohit sharma, who was loved and adored as MI captain since 2013. 

Hardik had also given a statement on Indian express saying that he would only return to MI if he was given captaincy. This did not please the fans, even after it was announced that he will be leading MI in the upcoming IPL season. People are seeing Hardik in a very negative light and thinking he was the main reason why Rohit Sharma had to step down as the captain. The crazy outbursts of fans have also led to many fans unfollowing the team on social media.

Love for Rohit and hate for Hardik

It's no surprise that Rohit Sharma has a lot of fans who adore him. This has made fans very upset when he chose to step down. Rohit has also been the most popular player for MI and has led the side to a lot of successful seasons. Hardik on the other hand is facing a lot of backlash for getting appointed as the captain, but also the time line of his comeback into Mumbai Indians and his statements before. The sad posts from other MI players has not helped his cause as every cricket fan is attacking him.

Rohit will always be remembered as one of the best players in cricketing history in any format he plays. The fact that he won’t be leading the side this season will be heartbreaking for all the fans, but for Hardik he will have to deal with this fire which has lit on social media and will have to do an exceptional job as the new captain of Mumbai Indians. The bigger question will also be if Hardik can live up to the standards that Rohit has kept in the last 10 years while leading the Mumbai franchise.
