Virat Kohli, India’s modern batting maestro, recently hit his 50th ODI century in the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against New Zealand and achieved a historic feat of hitting the most number of centuries in ODIs surpassing his idol and legend Sachin Tendulkar at his home ground in Mumbai.
Kohli achieved this feat on the biggest stage of Cricket and in front of celebrities like David Beckham, Ranbir Kapoor, and Kiara Advani which makes it even more special. In the 16th year of their International career, he achieved this feat and it is fair to say that he is the best batter to have played the ODI format.
In this World Cup, Virat earlier equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries by hitting a century against South Africa at Eden Gardens. Tendulkar achieved this feat in 452 innings, whereas it took Virat Kohli 277 innings to reach this milestone which is a testimony to the greatness of the modern maestro.
The whole cricketing fraternity congratulated Virat Kohli on his great achievement and took India home to the finals of the ODI World which will be played against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The 35-year-old enjoys a great fan following in Pakistan too as he had played some consistent knocks against Pakistan including the one of its king knock at the MCG in the T20 World Cup last year. Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal, who is also a great admirer of Virat Kohli has also praised Virat Kohli for his half-century of centuries and on achieving this record feat in a TV show in Pakistan.
However, in the same show, Kamran Akmal made another statement that didn’t go well with the fans when he stated that Pakistan’s Babar Azam is one of the batters who can break the record of Virat Kohli.
In the show when asked about who he thinks can surpass Kohli’s record Kamran replied: “It will be very difficult to surpass this record of Virat Kohli and only the top order batters have the luxury to achieve this feat and Pakistan’s Babar Azam and India’s Shubhman Gill have the skill to do so.”
However, this statement didn’t go well with the fans as they feel like Babar Azam is yet nowhere close to Virat Kohli and they expressed their views on “X” formerly Twitter.

Pakistani’s think they are more developed than India. Pakistani’s think they they can take over Kashmir. Pakistani’s think Babar Azam can break Virat Kolhi’s record of 50 ODI hundreds.

I want to smoke what these guys are smoking.
Pakistan is not playing a single ODI for next 1 year. Babar needs to play at least 15-20 ODIs / year for next 7-10 years. Tell @KamiAkmal23 to not dream much☺️
