After a dream run of 10 unbeaten matches in the ODI World Cup 2023, India’s juggernaut was halted by Australia in the finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With the World Cup final loss, India’s former batting legend and head coach Rahul Dravid’s 2-year coaching tenure with the Indian team also came to an end.
The current Indian team’s coaching reigns has been given to another former Indian batting maestro VVS Laxman, who was looking after the NCA as a makeshift arrangement till a final call is taken on the future of Rahul Dravid.
But if the reports by ESPN Cricinfo are to be believed, the Indian Cricket Board has offered an extension to Rahul Dravid to continue as the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team which marks that the Board is satisfied with the performance of the team under Dravid’s guidance. However, the tenure of the extension remains open-ended as of now.
India’s next assignment under new coach
If Dravid accepts the extension then his next assignment will be the series against South Africa at their home turf. India is scheduled to tour South Africa next month for a 3T20I and 3ODIs followed by a two-match Test series that will be played at Centurion (26th December) and Cape Town (3rd January).
Rahul Dravid however has not made anything official about his plans but reports are doing the rounds that he may not offer the extension as he wants to spend time with his family and to associate with the Indian team in the capacity of the head coach means that you are on road for most of the times.

After that India reached the semi-finals of the 2022 T201 World Cup, the World Test Championship final in 2022, and finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 but lost all of them.
