Pakistan is up against New Zealand in a do-or-die match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Winning the toss was the only thing that went Pakistan’s way in the first innings as the Kiwi batters hammered the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground to make a huge first innings total of 401 runs.
At the halfway stage it seemed to impossible task as 400 runs hadn’t been chased down yet in the history of World Cups and Pakistan was looking down and out. But Fakhar Zaman had some other plans. The flamboyant Pakistan opener blasted the fastest century by a Pakistan player in World Cups and put Pakistan well on course to chase down the mammoth target.
At one end Fakhar Zaman going bonkers but on the other hand, things were looking subdued as Babar Azam after a brisk start got a bit stuck and batted on boundary-less for 27 balls. This made the fans agitated as they felt that it would put more pressure on Fakhar Zaman which would lead him to be desperate and throw his wicket away.
Even the destructive former South African opener, Herschelle Gibbs himself took to Twitter to express his thoughts on Babar’s slow batting and asked to remind Azam that Pakistan is chasing 400. Ironically Gibbs was the mainstay in South Africa’s historic chase of 434 runs in ODIs against the mighty Australia in 2005-06 and to come it from Gibbs’ handle made it quite ironical.
Gibbs Tweeted on “X” formerly known as Twitter, “Can someone tell Babar they chasing 400” on Babar Azam on slow batting." Here is the tweet:
Can someone tell babar they chasing 400 …

Fans also took to “X” to express their views on Babar Azam’s batting against New Zealand. Here are some of the tweets:

Local lad Rachin Ravindra steals the show
Rachin Ravindra notched his third century of the 2023 World Cup. The left-handed batsman achieved this milestone during the match against Pakistan led by Babar Azam, which took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Ravindra's remarkable innings also saw him setting several records. He became just the third Black Caps batsman to accumulate 500 or more runs in a single edition of the World Cup. In the 2019 World Cup, Kane Williamson achieved this feat by amassing 578 runs from 10 matches, boasting an impressive average of 82.57 and a strike rate of 74.96, with his highest score being 148."
