With the series on the line the Men in blue introduce another debutante in the mix. The series is now in the balance after South Africa beat India in the 2nd ODI by 8 wickets at Gqeberha. This will also be the day another player will be tested in the form of Rajat Patidar who will be making his debut in this decisive match. The 30 yr old has to come good on the day as he has done in domestic cricket and IPL. It will be interesting to see if he will bring his form to international cricket and be a future prospect.

Patidar has so far got a positive reception from fans, who are happy to see the batter finally make his debut in the blue jersey. The fact that the team has chosen to let him start his one day career  when the series is on the line shows how much is expected from him. Will Patidar come good on the big stage, only time will. The powerful player from Madhya Pradesh will want to give his best game in one of the toughest matches which will be played at Paarl.

Patidar’s performance

Patidar has got a decent record in both domestic and IPL and there is no surprise in why the player is chosen to represent his country. With over 3500 runs in first class cricket and over 1500 in List A cricket with averages of 45.72 and 34.33 respectively, he was already set to make his long awaited debut. He has already performed well in the IPL with 404 runs in 11 innings at an average over 40 and a high strike rate of 144.29. Though he hasn’t had a long career in the league, he has already made his in 2022 season with a match winning hundred in a playoff game. 

Rajat Patidar will look to open his account in this match where he can display his aggressive style of batting. It will be something to cherish for Patidar as he will look to impress everybody on the biggest stage of his career. Patidar has already given memorable performances in his short IPL career so far and will make up for the runs he missed out on in the last season. We all should prepare to watch this explosive batter play.
