The 9th edition of the PSL is underway in full swing and all the five teams are fighting it out to clinch the coveted trophy. The top player of all the franchises of a tournament and their fans are integral components to determine the success of any domestic T20 tournament. However, there can be instances of altercations between fans and some players which can then leave a sour taste among viewers who watch the tournament. 

A recent incident unfolded between Pakistan’s premier batter and former captain Babar Azam and some fans during a recent PSL clash which prompted the usually calm Babar Azam to react back aggressively. 

Babar Azam who is currently leading the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in PSL had an altercation with fans who were mocking him with ‘Zimbabar’ chants while he was sitting along the boundary line with the support staff. After one point, Babar had enough and responded by picking up a water bottle and warning the spectators of potential harm. Luckily, the situation didn't escalate further following that incident.

Babar Azam got the 1st win of PSL 2024

In the meantime after losing the initial two matches, Peshawar Zalmi finally won their first match of the season when they clinched a thrilling victory over Multan Sultans by a margin of five runs. 

They had suffered two consecutive losses at the beginning of the season before defeating the Sultans. Reflecting on the match, Babar Azam described it as a remarkable triumph and emphasized its significance, stating that his team was in dire need of it.

Speaking after the first win Babar Azam said, “Outstanding win tonight. A win like this is needed. We wanted to score 170-180 and the batters did well to get there. Hasebullah started well and his partnership was crucial in the middle.

He further added, “Our bowlers put in their best efforts and executed well. Had we held onto our catches, it would have been a completely different ball game. We made changes to try a different combination and according to the surface.”
