Despite all the efforts by a lot of people, it's just impossible to keep sports away from politics. The two fields are so closely intertwined that it is often that they are pitted against each other. Something like this is going on in Wrestling wherein wrestlers are protesting against the Indian Wrestling Federation president and the whole thing has turned increasingly political.
In another such politically motivated move, former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has also lent his thoughts and is under the scanner of Twitter users. Talking of Rahul Gandhi's visit to the UK and his comments on BJP and Indian PM Narendra Modi, Chopra has made a political comment saying how it was disrespectful to the country for a senior politician to do that.
"I’m yet to see an opposition leader from another country coming to India and painting a sorry image of his country. Why do you need to articulate that on foreign land unless you’re seeking some sorta support??? Fight your battles in your own country…allow the electorate to decide…isn’t that the very essence of democracy?", write Chopra in a Tweet.
Soon as is the norm, he was blasted with a lot of hate comments wherein he was called out for bad commentating or a bad Test record.
Chopra however is never to take the beating while lying down and he came up with a comeback on these comments. He replied to one of the comments that called his career short-lived and not worthy of making him an expert. To which he replied, "Brother... I represented my country with a lot of pride and honour wherever I went. I won't ask ki aapne kya kiya hai IYKYK. (I won't ask what you did)."
Given the intense confrontation, Chopra received a lot of support from other cricket fans as well. There were some who also called him out and suggested he stay away from politics.
Here's how Twitter reacted:
Being a cricketer, U r asking a political question to a person who lost his father & grand mother serving the nation.

Those who lost their dear one's in serving India, can ever be working against India.
Did u ever ask or comment about Mr Modi's statement when he said before…
All those people belittling @cricketaakash about playing 8 tests or even for commentary must realise how hard it is to play for India from a population of 1.2 billion. In all respect I enjoy the entertainment factor in aakash sir commentary...

Playing a single game and representing the country with a population of 1.4 crore is itself a huge achievement, am sure Aakash must have had hard times achieving this

Not everyone got chance to play test cricket he did something brilliant in past to get chance in ICT and that too in peak Indian batting line-up... always show some respect to people who represent country in any format 💪💯

Playing just 9 test and now being called expert is exactly same like a student studying in class 9 with a major biology to be called as an expert in biology. And tell your BCCI to upgrade ticket system , drainage system and make world class stadium.
