Neeraj Chopra has been one of Indiaโ€™s best athletes of late and he has made India proud yet again. The youngster will now have one more record to his name as he has become the first Indian to win the prestigious Diamond League Finals title.

The Golden Boy of India won the World Athletics Championships and made India proud earlier this year before injury ruled him out of the Commonwealth Games 2022. The star then tweeted saying that he was all set for the next phase and has now won the gold in the Diamond League finals.

Starting with a foul, the 25-year-old silenced the crowd in the second attempt with a throw of 88.44m. This turned out to be his fourth best in his career and the throw put him on top right away. Throws of 88.00m, 86.11m, 87.00m and 83.60m then followed his second throw.

Czech Republic star Jakub Vadlejch finished second and Julian Weber of Germany finished third. The fans on social media went crazy on knowing the feat and did not spare a thought before lauding the youngster for the same.

This was the most important thing for me: Neeraj Chopra

Post winning the Diamond Trophy, Neeraj Chopra said that he was disappointed to not get a 90-meter throw. He further added that the trophy mattered more to him and acknowledged the presence of his family.

"It was a very good competition with Jakub Vadlejch today, he threw also very nice. I expected 90m from me today. But it is OK, I have the diamond trophy and this was the most important thing for me. Also because my family is here," Chopra said.

"First time, they are at an international competition. They came to see me as this is my last competition and we go for a holiday โ€“ France, Paris, so it will be good. I was injured after Eugene so I need some rest, 2-3 weeks and I start some rehab and then some training for next year," he added further.
