Former New Zealand skipper, Daniel Vettori has been appointed head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), replacing Brian Lara. SRH's distancing itself from Lara was due to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 performance, where they finished bottom at the points table. Earlier, Vettori was the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from 2014-18.
However, Lara replaced Tom Moody from this post ahead of the last edition of the IPL. Interestingly, Lara was with the SRH team in the 2022 edition as a strategic advisor and batting coach. In the 16th edition of IPL, the team struggled to make any impact; from 14 games, Hyderabad just managed to win four and lost 10.
Vettori's Impact: Sunrisers' Shifting Strategies and Quest for IPL Success
“As our two-year association with Lara came to an end, we bid adieu to him. Thank you for your contribution to the Sunrisers. We wish you all the best for your future endeavours,” the official Twitter account of SRH shared on social media.
Speaking of Vettori’s international career, the left-arm spinner made his debut for the Black Caps at the age of 18. At that moment, he was the youngest male cricketer from New Zealand to play in Test cricket. In the longer format of the game, Vettori was only the eighth all-rounder to take 300 wickets and score 3000 runs. In total, he was a handy lower-order batter with six Test centuries.
In the end, the Sunrisers have not been able to perform well since the 2021 season, and from the last three editions, they have ended in the bottom half of the table. Apart from this, the team has also changed several skippers, from David Warner, Kane Williamson to Aiden Markram. Now with the former Kiwi spinner's appointment as the coach, its tally has also reached three since 2021. SRH will surely be looking to perform well in the next IPL with the changes, but this cannot be the final change; most likely, announcements will not stop from the Sunrisers' end until the next season begins.

coaches don’t perform, you change them
captains don’t perform, you change them
how is anyone AT ALL going to feel secure and play their game freely whilst knowing that their is a sword hanging over their heads?
Now please take out kavya from decision making and give all the power to coaching staff

He lead RCB to final on his captaincy and had good records under his captaincy. Let his experiences bring back SRH on to track back. All the best Vettori
