The New Zealand veteran pacer, Trent Boult, is making a comeback in the ODI squad after being out of the squad for 10 months as he turned down a national contract. He last played his last ODI about a year ago, after he rejected the national contract to play in franchise league cricket. The 34-year-old is now back in the Black Caps squad against England, amid the ODI World Cup 2023 scheduled for this year.

However, the veteran pacer has been added for the upcoming ODI series keeping in mind the World Cup, as he was an essential part of the last two editions' runner-up squad. The Kiwis lost the 2015 Final against Australia, while the England team defeated them in the previous edition's summit clash.

I just respected the fact that my career is so long - Trent Boult

"It wasn't an easy decision to make just over a year ago to move away from New Zealand cricket bubble in a way, I never wanted it to be about New Zealand or franchise cricket. I just respected the fact that my career is so long, and just tried to make the most of my remaining years as a bowler," said Boult

"Yeah, definitely as hungry as ever to still represent the country, and hopefully do something special with the guys over the next couple of months. I can't wait,” he further added.

Interestingly, Boult recently played for the MI New York and helped his side lift the title of inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) trophy in the United States of America (USA). He was also the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Boult has been part of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The star Kiwi pacer was also on the Kiwis squad when they lifted the 2021 World Test Championship (WTC) title after beating India. He made his debut for New Zealand in 2011 in Test cricket.
