.Here are TOP five value buys at the Indian T20 League 2022-23 auction. These were steal buys from the franchise point of view.

The 2023 Indian T20 League auction was a wonderful time for a few players like Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal. They have raked in the money and become millionaires overnight. 

But from the franchise's point of view, there were several value for money buys that they got. The players were high in value but came at a bargain price for the franchises. They were absolute gold from the team's point of view. Some franchises went for players that they had in mind and took them after doing their homework.

Here are the 5 value buys in the Indian T20 League auction 2022-23:

5.David Wiese

 David Wiese was picked up by the Kolkata franchise for INR 1 crore. He has been playing in a lot of leagues in T20 cricket such as the Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, He has primarily been picked up as a backup option to Andre Russell.

He has played for the Bangalore franchise before, notably he will be representing the Indian T20 League as a Namibia player. He played 15 matches for the Bangalore franchise and picked 16 wickets and also scored 127 runs.

4.Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid went to the Hyderabad franchise for INR 2 crore. He has played in the Indian T20 League before for Punjab. He will be a great addition to the Hyderabad team and would work well in combination with Washington Sundar.

Rashid picked up 19 wickets from 24 T20Is this year, In the semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup2022 against India, he gave away 1-20 in his four overs. In the final against Pakistan, he picked up 2-22 in his four overs. He will fulfil the role of taking wickets in the middle overs.

3.Phil Salt

Phil Salt has been picked at 2 crores for Delhi Franchise. He has been picked up as a backup opener for David Warner in case of injuries. He also had a great season in the hundred as he scored 353 runs for his side.

 Salt has been a T20 specialist, and he has also played in the BBL as an opener. He has played 30 matches for the Adeliade Strikers and scored 671 runs at a strike rate of 146.70 and at an average of 23.13. He has scored six half centuries.

2. Joe Root

Joe Root has been picked up by the Rajasthan franchise at his base price of INR 1 crore. At a time when T20 cricket is all about big hitting. Joe Root has got a contract, and this means there is value for the anchors. He has also had a stint for the Sydney Thunder in the BBL.

It remains to see how he will do in the Indian T20 League. The added advantage of having someone like Root is that he will also bowl a few overs of part time off-spin.  He last played a T20 in 2019 for England and has scored 893 runs in the 32 matches that he has played.

1.Sikandar Raza

Sikander Raza will be playing his maiden Indian T20 League season for Punjab. He was bought for 50 Lakhs INR which was his base price.  He has played 66 T20 matches and has scored 1259 runs for Zimbabwe.

He can also provide the anchor role for his franchise if needed and can also be a handy option with the ball. He had a good 20-20 World Cup in Australia where he scored 219 runs and played a big part in the crucial victory against Pakistan.
