Football has also been a wonderful spectacle to watch as a fan. ‘The great game’ has spread its footprints all over the world including India. Even Though India does not play in the FIFA World Cup. The Indian fans are passionate and are die hard supporters of their respective clubs. The craze for football in India is huge.

A number of English clubs are expected to change hands when it comes to ownership. This includes the big-name clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United. Indian business mogul Mukesh Ambani is reportedly interested in buying a football club in England. As earlier rumours indicated, the club is not Liverpool or Manchester United but Arsenal. 21 days earlier, the Glazers had put forward their intention to sell their stakes with United which would bring the curtains down on their 17year long ownership. There were rumours linked with Ambani and United earlier but now it is claimed that he is looking at Arsenal.

Ambani’s son, Akash Ambani is a die-hard Arsenal fan and according to a report in the Athletic. This could be one club that the Ambani’s are interested in if they are looking to diversify their sporting investments to football. The report adds further that India are interested to invest in non-cricketing entities.

"There is an increasing appetite in India for non-cricket investment opportunities in sport. This links to India's digital and entertainment economy. City Football Group invested in Mumbai, and Mumbai is the digital, entertainment and financial capital of India. If you look at some of the things Abu Dhabi's wealth fund is investing in, they have invested in digital start-ups in Mumbai. Simon Chadwick a professor at the SKEMA Business School said.

"There is a sense India could be the next great frontier. We've already had China, and now we have Saudi Arabia," He added. The majority stake at Arsenal is currently owned by Kroenke Sports and entertainment. This will mark a big change in Indian sport if it happens.
