The Indian team have reached Australia ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue took part in the practice match against Western Australia on October 10, Monday and won by 13 runs. As it stands, the Indian team will open their campaign in the tournament on October 23 against Pakistan.

Ahead of the tournament, in an interview with Dainik Jagran, Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s star leg spinner said that they have faced Pakistan a lot of times and it does not worry them anymore. Further, the Indian spinner admitted that the media create a lot of hype ahead of the clash and emphasised ignoring such hype.

“When you've already played against a particular opponent, you don't worry much when you face them again. However, there is lot of hype generated by media and internet ahead of the clash against Pakistan. But for us cricketers this is just like another match and if we think too much pressure certainly builds,” said Chahal to Dainik Jagran.

The focus solely remains on our performance: Chahal

The star spinner added that the focus remains on the team’s performance rather than on the opponent. The Men in Blue lost against the arch-rivals in the previous edition of the 20-20 World Cup and would look to avenge the team in the upcoming showpiece event.

“I'm quite active on internet but I don't allow myself to get bothered on what is being written out there. Pakistan is a good team but the focus solely remains on our performance. The most important thing is how you perform on the match day, everything depends on that,” said Chahal further.

The leggie is taking part in the 20-20 World Cup for the first time and he was not a part of the Indian squad in the previous edition. Apropos of having mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy on board, India bowed out of the tournament in the group stage. However, this time, a fresh Indian team will take on the world and the vision will be to strike right from the start.
