India faced South Africa in the second game of the three-match T20I series in Guwahati on October 2, Sunday. India batted first, and during the seventh over of the innings, an unwanted visitor entered the field. It was only when the ground staff entered the field, people realised that there is a snake taking a stroll on the ground.

Although the players were far away from the snake, the tumultuousness was still visible on everyone’s faces. Fans, who witnessed the scenes from the stadium were emasculated and it seemed to leave everyone speechless as this is a rare occurrence in the history of cricket.

However, the match resumed after the incident as the ground staff were well prepared for such incidents. With regards to India’s first innings, KL Rahul scored a quick 57 while the Indian skipper managed to score 43 runs. Suryakumar Yadav catalyzed the Indian innings with his quick-fire 66 off 22 balls and helped India post a mammoth total of 237 on board.

Flood light interrupts South Africa’s chase

However, the snake entering the stadium was not the only interruption in the match. The floodlights went off during South Africa’s chase after the fall of two wickets in Arshdeep Singh’s over. After a brief break, the Proteas resumed their chase and stunned the Indian crowd.

Although the chase went off in vain, the spectators did not shy away from lauding the courageous 46-ball century from David Miller. he finished with an unbeaten 107. The Proteas came close to the target but lost it by 16 runs. Miller said that he wanted to play with the right intent and win it for South Africa.

“Quinton (de Kock) struggled upfront but batted through the innings and kept us in the hunt. We just got 16 runs," said Miller during a post-match interview. "(On being asked what QDK said at the end) You batted well and I'm sorry (laughs). It was a good wicket, they came out all guns blazing. We had to go, which freed us up a little bit. But it was a very nice wicket. The heavens have opened, it's raining, it was humid and sweaty."
