Shreyas Iyer is known for tackling spin bowlers. He can play spin well and can attack pace well. He has been the talk of the town of late. The batter has been struggling with short balls and has not managed to come out of mud yet. He has put himself in a trap and did not have a good outing with the Kolkata team in the Indian T20 league.

Former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar said to Fancode that Shreyas Iyer might lose his position. The former opined that the lack of ability to face the short balls can be risky. He added that the lack of runs can add more misery. Shreyas Iyer was once India's best no 4 batter. However, in recent times, things have changed terribly for the batter.

"Things have changed, haven't they? He is the one guy who is in danger of losing his spot a little bit. We know how well Suryakumar Yadav has played. Besides, there's another problem.. a couple of things that he needs to work on includes his short-ball issue," Ajit Agarkar said to Fancode. However, Shreyas Iyer managed to score a fifty in the first match against West Indies on 22nd July.

The batter would want to continue the form and would look to make a strong comeback. With 20-20 World Cup and 50 over World Cup just around the corner, the batter might look to seal his spot. Shreyas Iyer still has enough days in the bank to find his form. Tackling the short ball is one issue that the batter might focus on. And the ongoing series against West Indies will be a great opportunity.

The more time he spends in the middle, the more runs he'll pile up for India. This might help Shreyas Iyer to find the rhythm and move forward. The classy batter will do all he can to contribute with runs to the Indian team. Shreyas Iyer will be Shikhar Dhawan's deputy for the remaining two ODIs.
