Tottenham Hotspur is one of the finest football clubs in the Premier League. It is one of those teams that end up in the top seven on most occasions and one has to mention Eric Dier for the team’s success. The defender has been faring out well for the team and has now come up with a few revelations.
Tottenham clashed with Chelsea in the league the previous month and the match ended in a draw. However, post the conclusion of the match, Eric Dier’s family faced a few problems at Stamford Stadium and it hurt the player.
The defender has now revealed that his family stopped attending away games post that incident. He did not blame the Chelsea fans for the same and said that it was football fans in general. Eric Dier is one of Tottenham's star players and his excellent stint with the club earned him a national call-up.
“For me it (fan behaviour) is a serious problem. I had some family and friends at the Chelsea away game with Tottenham and they had problems and stuff. I wanted to emphasise it was both sets of fans - I am not saying it is Chelsea fans or Tottenham fans, it is football fans in general,” the 28-year-old said.
That's a shame that I feel too uncomfortable for them: Eric Dier
Eric Dier said that it was a shame for him to feel uncomfortable for letting his family attend away games. He admitted that there were nice moments too but events like these make it worse for him and his family.
“We played Burnley after I went in the stands for the next away game and the Burnley fans were singing a song about my brother and I like that kind of thing - I find it quite funny," Eric Dier said.
“But there are some things I find very strange. It is not nice. My family would never go to an away game nowadays because of it - and that's a shame that I feel too uncomfortable for them to go to away games,” the defender concluded.
