Delhi Capitals had a horrendous start to their Indian Premier League 2023 campaign. They lost each of their first four games and are currently lagging at the bottom of the points table. The team led by David Warner is currently playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore and will look for their first win of the season.

Surprisingly, the Capitals' dugout has some of cricket's most iconic names. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is the team's head coach, and former India captain Sourav Ganguly is the team's director.

In the midst of a string of poor defeats, former India opener Virender Sehwag offered an interesting observation on big names in the Delhi dugout. When discussing DC's troubles this year, the renowned former opener frankly claimed that big names in the dugout don't bring much value to the team's results.

You have to pick players who can win you matches: Virender Sehwag

“To be honest with you, there's zero value of the staff that's present there. It doesn't matter who strong your team is, it's the players who are performing badly out there. You can have as many great minds as you like in the dressing room, if your players aren't scoring runs or taking wickets, what they will do?” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“I will never understand that. You have to pick players who can win you matches, and you don't have to direct them everytime. When you have those players, you can become champions. Delhi do have those players, but they're not scoring runs or taking wickets. You can make strategies, in the end, those who enter the ground have to perform,” the former opener further added.

Along with Warner, the team boasts Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, and Anrich Nortje among others, but the team management is yet to find the perfect mix for its XI. The Capitals are currently without their regular captain, Rishabh Pant.
