With the release of the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, all eyes are on the blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan, which is set to take place in Ahmedabad on October 15. However, Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan believes that winning the IND vs PAK match will be of ‘no benefit’ if they do not win the World Cup.

Shadab said playing against India is always a different feeling and the team will be under a lot of pressure considering the fact that the men in blue are the hosts of the 10-team tournament. At the same time, Pakistan's limited over vice-captain said their goal will not only be to defeat India, but also to win the coveted title.

"Playing against India comes with a different sense of joy. The pressure overall is also different. Now when we have to go there, it will be their home ground - the crowd will be against us. However, we are going there to play in the World Cup, so we should think about it, and not only about India, because if we win against India and lose the World Cup, then there's no benefit of it," Shadab told Cricket Pakistan.

"In my opinion, even if we lose from India but end up winning the World Cup, it's a win-win because that is our main aim," he added.

Can India continue to dominate Pakistan in the ODI World Cup?

Meanwhile, if we go by history, Shadab's dream of defeating India will not be easy for the Men in Green as India have an astonishing record of never losing to Pakistan in the ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Co. will aim to make the stats 8-0 in the high-voltage encounter at the world's biggest cricket stadium later this year.

Babar Azam's team defeated India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup held in Dubai in 2021. But India responded with a blistering batting performance by Virat Kohli to pull off a thriller in Australia the following year. However, India's dominance over Pakistan in the 50-over format is yet to be broken.
