Gujarat franchise and Lucknow franchise played their first season in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. It turned out to be a great outing for the Gujarat franchise as they went on to clinch the title. While many lauded the mentoring technique of Gary Kirsten, people also spotted the unorthodox method of coaching from Ashish Nehra.

The former bowler joined hands with Hardik Pandya and defeated the Rajasthan franchise in the final of the previous edition of the Indian T20 League. People spotted Ashish Nehra with a paper in most of the matches and felt curious about what was actually written on it.

During a chat with Cricbuzz, Ashish Nehra was kind enough to draw light on the same and said that it had nothing special written on it. He was unable to understand that why would people think that something important would be written on that white paper.

“There was nothing on the paper. I don't know why everyone believes there was something important on the paper. Paper pe sirf menu tha ki practice pe hamaara menu kya hoga (It only had menu for our practice session),” Nehra said to Cricbuzz.com.

Ashish Nehra further opined that he was only a spectator and no special coach but was happy with the result.

“I'm no super coach. Just like you, I was also a spectator sitting outside. When the team wins, you talk about all these things. All coaches put on a lot of hard work and sometimes , you get the results of that. Our first year at Gujarat franchise was really good and we are happy,” Ashish Nehra said further.

People often trolled the 43-year-old for his coaching techniques when he was with the Bangalore franchise. However, one has to admit that he did a splendid job with the Gujarat franchise and made a strong statement. It shouldn't come as a surprise if the Gujarat team manage to reach the playoffs this time as well.
