'There was never a doubt about it' - Former India World Cup winner hails Rohit Sharma- Captain of India's Asia Cup 2023 triumph

After a thumping victory against defending champions Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 finals, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will look up to the biggest cricket carnival in the world, the ODI World Cup 2023. He will be lifting 1.4 billion hopes while going into the prestigious tournament. However, he will be accompanied by India's best 15 players in the tournament with the same ambitions.

India's one-sided victory has also increased the hopes of fans and former cricketers. Meanwhile, former World Cup winner and star Indian batter Gautam Gambhir has hailed Rohit Sharma's captaincy skills. Gambhir has said that there is no doubt about Rohit Sharma, the skipper, as he has been phenomenal throughout his career. Gambhir also highlighted Rohit's success in the Indian Premier League and called it unmatchable.

He said, "There was never a doubt about Rohit, the captain. He won five IPL titles. Many didn’t even win once. His real test will come in the next 15 days. You have your best 15–18 players in the dressing room now. If they cannot deliver, there will be question marks. After every World Cup, if the captain is unable to deliver, then questions will be raised. Virat Kohli faced it. Rahul Dravid faced it in 2007."

Rohit Sharma remains unbeaten in the finals of the white ball format

India skipper Rohit Sharma entered the Asia Cup 2023 as one of the most successful white-ball captains in the world. He never lost a single White Ball final in his entire career. Starting in the 2013 Indian Premier League, he never looked back. Rohit has won the IPL five times: in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2022. He won the Champions League in 2013 too. Meanwhile, on an international level, Rohit has won three trophies.

He has won the Asia Cup twice, in 2018 and 2023, while clinching the Nidahas Trophy in 2018 too. It's worth noting that Rohit is the most successful skipper in ODI Asia Cup history, with a 100% track record. He also levelled the trophies won by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mohammad Azaharuddin. It's worth noting that India will be hoping for him to lift the best possible trophy in his entire career on November 19 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
