AB de Villiers has been a huge fan favourite in India and has a wonderful fan following in the country. This has been possible due to the Indian T20 League which started in 2008. The biggest T20 League on planet earth in India is a match made in heaven with De Villiers who has been one of the most accomplished batters in the league.

De Villiers started his Indian T20 League career with the Delhi franchise in 2008. He spent three seasons with the Delhi-based side before switching sides with Bangalore in 2011. He had a long association with the side and started with them till he bid adieu to all forms of the game.

This is what he had to say about his experiences in the Indian T20 League, “My Indian T20 League journey started in 2008. My first Indian T20 League year in 2008 was a huge occasion for me and a lot of other players. The start of the IPL changed my life, and people are really passionate about cricket. Not only the home team but the members of the other team as well. It tells a story about India as a nation. I think they have always been very welcoming, and they make you feel like you are one of them,” De Villiers said, as told by Cricketnext.

Virat Kohli and my time with the Bangalore franchise and if I go a further back, I think of Glenn McGrath, spending time with him. He was this hard guy and all of a sudden, I’m sitting with him in the changing room and having a beer after the game,” he added.
