'The curse of being highest paid is real'- Fans brutally troll Smriti Mandhana for her poor performance in Women's T20 League 2023

The Women's T20 League is heading towards the business end but Bangalore has disappointed the fans with their performance. Skipper Smriti Mandhana has faced a lot of flack for her mediocre performance. The most expensive player of the tournament, Mandhana failed to deliver even a half century for Bangalore. 

Appointed as the skipper of the franchise for the 2023 season, Mandhana wasn't able to fulfil the expectations. The batter failed to finish the season at a high, leading to only two wins and six defeats. Even after a good start in a few of the matches, the average was barely 18.6 and a total of 149 runs in eight matches. The skipper wasn't also great as they lost consecutive five matches leading to their exit from the race of top three. 

Playing against Mumbai, Smriti got out at 25 runs for 25 balls, along with Perry who was also knocked out at 29. However, the match was saved by Richa Ghosh, helping the team to cross 100, with two sixers and three fours. Bangalore scored 125 runs at the loss of 9 wickets, in the game of 20 overs. 

On the other hand, Mumbai cleared its way, with a clean win. Amella Kar bagged 3 wickets in 4 overs, caving in 22 runs. Nat Brunt and Issues Wong, both took 2 wickets each and Saika Ishaque took the last. With their sixth win, Mumbai jumped on the top of the points table followed by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, who will face each other at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. 

The 26 year old batter made to the headlines when Bangalore bought her for a whooping 3.4 crore for the upcoming Women's T20 league. Smriti is reported to be in the hands of the Bangalore Franchise,making her the most expensive player in the tournament.

However, it seems like the investment wasn't worth it as fans have started trolling the batter all over the social media. She was ridiculed for her performance after Mufaddal Vohra tweeted her batting stats with a caption 'A season to forget for Smriti Mandhana'.
