Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers across the globe in the current era. The 33-year-old made his debut in the year 2008 and ruled the cricketing world for almost a decade. There have been times that he remained number one in the white-ball format for multiple years.

However, once he was removed from his captaincy, the star batter underwent one of the toughest phases of his life. People often revisits the year 2014 when asked about the batter’s worst phase. But the year 2021 turned out to be even worse for him as he kept getting out for cheap scores.

The legend then took a break from cricket and made his comeback in the Asia Cup 2022. He put behind his poor form and went on to notch two fifties and one hundred in the tournament. Kohli has a statement and one can only hope that he would carry on with his stellar form. Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Shahid Afridi has lauded the veteran and advised him to retire from the game when at his peak.

“The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high," Afridi said on Samaa TV.

“It shouldn't reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career," he concluded.

Virat Kohli will travel to Australia to represent India in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
