Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Royals came face to face in the sixth match of The 6ixty 2022 on Saturday (August 27). The game was played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. The game between two batting powerhouses witnessed the highest team score of the tournament so far. Let's look at what went down when Tallawahs and Royals collided.
Jamaica Tallawahs vs Barbados Royals
Barbados Royals won the toss and put the Tallawahs to bat. The Tallawahs got to a brisk start with 19 off the first over. Despite losing a wicket in the second over, Amir Jangoo kept the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace. At 46/1 in 3 overs, Jamaica was eying a big total but they lost two wickets in quick succession. At 4.5 overs, the score became 60/3.
Raymon Reifer joined Jangoo and what followed was just carnage. The duo smashed an unbeaten 102-run stand for the 4th wicket in just 5.1 overs. This partnership helped the team amass 162/3. Jangoo and Reifer reached their half-centuries in the process. Jangoo scored 68 off 27 balls including four fours and six sixes while his partner made 57 off 19 deliveries which includes eight fours and three sixes.
In response to the massive target, Barbados had a decent start. Rahkeem Cornwall (25) hit four consecutive sixes and got his team off to a flyer. But his cameo ended in the second over. Corbin Bosch (33) and Harry Tector (35) kept the scoreboard moving. With the score 76/2 in five overs, the game was evenly poised with 87 required off the last 5 overs.
The batting duo could not keep the momentum going and Barbados fell behind the required rate. Trying to up the scoring rate, the duo eventually perished and the Royals could only manage 121 runs at the end of their innings and thus, lost the game by 41 runs. Reifer was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.
