After months of discussion with various outrageous groups in the United States of America, the Apex Cricket Council on Wednesday announced the venues for the T20 World Cup 2024. In a recent press release, the Council informed that Florida, Dallas, and New York have been chosen as the venues in the USA.
It is worth noting that the Caribbean Cricket Board and the US Cricket Board are set to host the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the US. However, due to a lack of infrastructure in America, the broadcasters and local authorities asked the Apex Cricket Council to reconsider their decision. With this development, it seems that the board has finally negotiated with them for the tournament.
The grounds for the tournament will be Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida, and Nassau County in New York. The Apex Cricket Council is also likely to build a detachable stadium in New York with a capacity of 34,000 people. This stadium is likely to host marquee clashes like India vs. Pakistan during the tournament. Overall, around 17 matches will be played in the United States of America throughout the tournament.
Apex Cricket Council to expand seating capacity in Florida
Further, the Board is likely to expand the seating capacities in Florida and Dallas ahead of the prestigious tournament. In order to boost the reach of games on the American continent, the Apex Cricket Council decided to organise the Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the US. Speaking about the venues, Board Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said that the USA is a strategically important market.
"We're delighted to announce the three USA venues that will host part of the biggest Men's T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. The USA is a strategically important market, and these venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world's biggest sports market", says Allardice.
"We explored a number of potential venue options in the country, and we were hugely encouraged by the enthusiasm the event generated amongst prospective hosts, reinforcing the growing awareness around cricket's massive fanbase and its power to unite diverse communities", he further added.
