Sarfaraz Khan is faring well in the domestic arena off late and the time to don the Test jersey for India may not be far away. In his last ten first-class innings, Khan has five 50-plus scores out of which three of them are 153, 134 and 127*. The 24-year-old scored his 10th century in first-class cricket against Saurashtra in the ongoing Irani Cup, gathering 138 runs off 178 balls comprising 20 boundaries and two maximums.
His blistering innings attracted appreciation from all ends and that included India’s star middle order batter, Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar took it to social media to heap praise on the 24-year-old for his valiant innings for the Rest of India.
Posting a selfie and showing a thumbs up, Suryakumar said that he was proud of the youngster. “So so so Proud of you,” wrote Suryakumar as the caption for the social media post. The journey to earning a national call-up for Suryakumar was not easy as the batter made his debut only at the age of 30. Getting appreciation from such a valuable national player would come as a blessing for Sarfaraz.

Regarding Sarfaraz’s records in first-class cricket, the player averages close to 80 with a career-best score of 301*. In over 40 FC innings, the 24-year-old has managed to compile over 2,500 runs. After making his debut for Mumbai in 2014 in Ranji Trophy, the uncapped middle-order batter went on to become an integral part of the team over time.
Speaking of the match, Sarfaraz’s century helped the Rest of India put on a total of 374 at the end of the first innings. After bowling out Saurashtra for 98 runs, the Rest of India enforced the follow-on and looked steady towards a glorious victory. Chetan Sakariya, the youngster, starred with the ball for the Rest of India with his five-for.
Sarfaraz would look to earn the Indian cap at the earliest and make a name for himself. Fans are eager to see the Indian youngster in the Test format as he knocks on the doors of the selectors.
