Suryakumar Yadav has become the leading run-scorer in the T20Is in the ongoing calendar year. He went past Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee, who has scored 626 runs this year. Yadav has scored 682 runs in 20 games at an average of 37.88 including his maiden hundred in July and two fifties. The right-hander scored a match-winning 69 off 36 balls including five fours and as many sixes.
His innings came at a time when India lost two wickets for 30 runs while chasing 187 against Australia. This inning helped the team chase down the target and win the three-match series 2-1. Talking about others, Pakistan's opening batter in T20I, Mohammad Rizwan has scored 556 runs. The West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran is not far behind with 553 runs. Suryakumar made his international debut in February 2021 in the T20I game against England. He started his international with the six down to fine leg against Jofra Archer, who is currently injured.
