One of the six teams from the Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars got themselves into a controversy. Apparently, they posted an image of their Hussain Talat having tea. There seems to be nothing harm in it but the caption for the image became controversial. The image was captioned “Ye tu “Tea is Fantastic” hogya”, sparking an uproar on social media.

Apparently, since 2019, people in India and Pakistan have been sharing a different sentiment to 'Tea is fantastic' punchline. Four years ago, wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s MiG-21 lost connection with Indian Airforce and veered into Pakistan, where it was eventually shot down. Although he safely ejected, he was caught by the locals and later taken into custody by their army.

After a while, a video of him was released later that said “I’d like to put this on record: I will not change my statement even when I go back to my country. The officers of the Pakistan Army have looked after me very well, starting from the captain who rescued me from the mob, from the soldiers, and thereafter, the officers of the unit I was taken to. I would expect my army to behave in the same way. And I’m very impressed with the Pakistan Army,” the fighter jet pilot said in the clip. A Pakistani official then asked Abhinanadad if he liked the tea and he responded: “The tea is fantastic, thank you.”

The last line has become a thing of teasing for the netizens of India and Pakistan.

Lahore Qalandars are defending their PSL title

Meanwhile, the Shaheen Afridi-led side is the defending champions of the ongoing PSL season eight. Last year, they won their maiden title beating the then-defending champions Multan Sultans in the final. With this, Lahore became the last team in the tournament to win their maiden title in the history of the tournament.
