It was for the very first time in IPL that two brother pairs captained opposing sides when Gujarat Titans faced Lucknow Super Kings in the IPL 2023 match. Hardik Pandya captained GT while Krunal Pandya captained LSG in the match due to KL Rahul being out with an injury.
The match got off with both GT openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha starting off brilliantly against the LSG bowlers. Saha in particular was in red-hot form as he dispatched LSG bowlers to the stand one after the other to bring out a sensational half-century.
The right-hand batter made 81 off just 43 with 10 fours and 4 sixes to thwart any challenge from the LSG side. The 38-year-old was eventually dismissed by Avesh Khan with substitute fielder Prerak Mankad taking a brilliant catch on the outfield.
Twitter was understandably buzzing with Saha's brilliant inning and soon praise from all around started to pour in on social media platforms. Star India batter Virat Kohli also put out a special Instagram story praising the batter for his brilliant knock. In the story, Kohli put an image of Saha from the match along with the caption, "What a player Wriddi" with clap emojis.
Here's how Twitter reacted to Wriddhiman Saha's brilliant inning against LSG:Β

It's the tournament of the veterans of the game. Ishant, Rahane, Chawla and now Wriddhiman Saha has stepped up and showed a class act. What a performance. #GTvsLSG

This is how you play T20 cricket, you play selflessly and play for the team not to improve your own records by statpadding. Kohli should learn something from Saha and realise his pathetic 55(46) knocks aren't helping his team at all

As for the match, GT went on to post a huge total against LSG at the Narendra Modi stadium on the back of Saha's half-century as well as Shubman Gill's incredible 94 off 51. Gill hit 2 fours and 7 sixes to bring out a massive score but the player missed out on what could have been a deserving century.
David Miller also made an unbeaten 21 off 12 with 2 fours and 1 six to help GT achieve a monumental score. LSG would have to come up all guns blazing if the Krunal Pandya-led side is to have any chance of winning the match.
