Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest player to grace the football pitch right now. His immense record speaks volumes about the insane talent that he possesses. The grace and flair that he brings to the football pitch would be well spoken of in years to come such has been the impact of the Argentine.

Messi achieved a great deal at Barcelona where he played for 16 years. But financial turbulence meant that the player had to leave the Spanish club. With every big club waving the cash-filled bag to the diminutive football sensation, Messi eventually decided to head over to League 1 in France.

The decision to join PSG came as a surprise to many but soon links to Neymar who was already playing at the club made the move make some sense. Messi has been at the club for two years now and in that time scored 32 goals in 74 games for PSG.

Messi was brought to the club as a push to finally win the UEFA Champions League, the biggest football achievement that has to date eluded the French giants. After two years, however, the move looks like a failure for both Messi as well as PSG.

Given the financial strain that has been put on PSG due to this, they have decided to part ways with Messi. In a recent statement, Christophe Galtier, head coach of PSG, revealed that this season would be Messi's last at the French club.

"I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes, and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes, " said Galtier.

He also suggested not to criticise the former Barcelona player as he has always been available when needed.

"This year, he has been an important part of the team, always available. I don't think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. He's always been there for the team. It's been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season," Galtier claimed.

As soon as the news broke, Twitter was filled with reactions many of which compare him to Cristiano Ronaldo claiming he had a better career in different leagues.
