Sevilla earned a 2-2 draw against Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final after the latter conceded two own goals in the final 15 minutes of the game. After a dominant first half from United, the visitors staged an incredible comeback in the last minutes of the game on Thursday at Old Trafford. With the defeat against the Spanish side, Erik ten Hag's team need to win in Spain next week to stay in the competition.

The Red Devils are the favourites to win this season, and they looked to be cruising towards the semi-finals after a fantastic first half performance, but their hopes were dashed by two own goals. United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer scored two quick goals in the 14th and 21st minutes to give the hosts an early lead. The Austrian netted his first European goal for United by finishing a clear cut pass from Bruno Fernandes.

We gave easy goals away: Sabitzer

Sabitzer added another goal after seven minutes, converting a fine pass from Anthony Martial. Speaking after the match, the 29-year-old described the contest as "a roller-coaster" and said the result was not what they wanted.

"We had to finish the game off, it's a draw, was not what we wanted, have to go to Seville and get it down there. We had the chances, we were confidence in the game and I think we controlled the game, but unfortunately we gave easy goals away," said Sabitzer.

Following a strong start with a two-goal lead, the Old Trafford club was unfortunate to concede two own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire in the 84th and 90+2 minutes, respectively.

A disappointed United manager, Ten Hag, told BT Sport that some unlucky moments with injuries cost them the game against Sevilla.

"I think we had the game in hand. We should have scored three or four. . . and then some unlucky moments with injuries. And then we conceded two own goals and that's bad luck. We have to deal with it. Of course, we have to learn that we have to kill the game," he said.
