The Indian Super League is being played in India in its usual home and away format after being played in the bio bubbles for the previous two seasons. The matches have come thick and fast, and the football has been high octane. The League has been a breeding ground of young Indian footballers.

Chennaiyin FCs ace midfielder from Brazil Rafael Crivellaro has decided to end his contract with the club based on mutual agreement between the two parties. This has brought the curtains down on a very fruitful association of three plus years with Chennaiyin FC.

The midfielder played 27 matches for the club and accounted for eight goals, but he had a very short stint as his ISL career has been plagued with injuries. Rafael and Chennai were a match made in heaven at the start as he was given the captains armband, however midway through the season he did not take part after he was down with an ankle injury.

He had a very injury prone ISL career

Rafael made a comeback in the 2021-2022 season. He was actually one of the main players in the side before he was sidelined with a grade 2 muscle injury before the season began and he did not take part once again. The 33-year-old went back to India after that. The fans from Chennai were excited to see ‘Master Rafa’ playing but, it was not to be as Thomas Brdaric did not select the attacking midfielder and wanted to sign Nasser El Khayati. Instead.

Upon coming to an understanding that he will not see himself in the club in the foreseeable future Rafael has decided to wind up his contact with Chennaiyin FC. Last year’s ISL winners are looking to sign Rafael with Wellington Priori being released by Jamshedpur.

This was the statement given by Jamshedpur FC, "Jamshedpur FC and Wellington Priori have decided to part ways by mutual consent. Jamshedpur FC would like to sincerely thank Wellington Priori for his contribution to the club and wish him the best for his future endeavours!."
