The Road Safety World Series has already seen some cracking matches with former legends facing off each other. Sunday’s (September 11) match was no different as Sri Lanka Legends and Australia Legends crossed swords at Kanpur. Tillakaratne Dilshan, the skipper of the Sri Lankan Legends team won the toss and elected to bat first.

Dilshan Munaweera and the skipper opened the account for the island nation. Not much the pacers could do with a flat pitch and it looked like a surface where batters can come up with a few shots. Undoubtedly, Munaweera started playing an aggressive inning alongside Dilshan. The boundaries kept coming and coming until the Australian bowlers gave up on their skills.

With India Legends already off to a great start against South Africa Legends, it was essential for these two teams to toil hard to clinch their first win. The skipper from the island nation scored a valiant century that forced the spectators to stand up and laud the veteran. An unbeaten 95 from Munaweera at the other end helped Sri Lanka Legends reach a total of 218.

Australia Legends put on a fight but in vain

Australia Legends’ openers skipper Shane Watson and Cameron White got off to a good start. It looked as if their skipper carried on from where he left in the last match. The duo looked in fine nick and played like active players despite being away from the game for a long time.

However, the island nation's legendary bowlers Jeevan Mendis and Chaturanga de Silva looked on fire. Then came in Nuwan Kulasekara who rattled the middle and lower order to pick up a four-for to his name. A quick 46 from Nathan Reardon wasn’t enough for the Aussie team as they bowed down for 180 runs.

Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dilshan Munaweera and Nuwan Kulasekara emerged as top performers for the Sri Lankan Legends team. Wishes kept pouring in for the skipper who came up with a fabulous century. Here we bring in some engaging Twitter reactions that one can relate to:
