A brilliant effort by the Chennai Super Kings (SCK) bowlers restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a below-par total of 134-7 as the two clashed in Match 29 of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Looking for their first win against CSK at Chepauk Stadium, the SRH bowlers have a tough task ahead of them.

Losing the toss and being asked to bat first, SRH got off to a decent start to their innings. Mayank Agarwal was demoted to No. 6 due to his poor form in the top order, and it was Abhishek Sharma who opened the innings with Harry Brook. Before Brook's dismissal on the second ball of the fifth over, the duo put up a 35-run partnership, providing the side with a solid base.

The visitors were 70/1 in the first 9 overs and once the CSK spinners took charge, in the last 11 overs, they could manage just 64 runs, losing six wickets in that phase. An incredible comeback by the hosts as Ravindra Jadeja led from the front with three wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs.

Although the visitors played a slow innings with Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek on the crease, they were in control till the latter was dismissed by Jadeja in the 10th over. However, after reaching 71-2 in 9.2 overs, they faced a sudden collapse as Jadeja struck again to dismiss Tripathi. The continuous wicket fell added pressure on the remaining batters and it made SRH skipper Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen play another sluggish innings, which eventually led them to lose their wicket.

Agarwal, who played in a different position this season, failed to perform well once again as the CSK skipper made a quick stumping off Jadeja's delivery. Marco Janes and Washington Sundar played a short cameo to take their team to 134 in 20 overs.

A total of 10 overs of spin brought CSK back into the game and it remains to be seen if the SRH spinners will get the same kind of help in the second innings.
