Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash against the 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 29 of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, April 21. The match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as the Chepauk Stadium, where the Orange Army has never defeated the Yellow squad. Having lost all three matches played in Chennai, SRH will be eager to claim a win and get back on track.
Currently sitting at the third position in the IPL 2023 points table, CSK are in good form and has a solid record in their fortress, winning 19 of their last 23 matches. The MS Dhoni-led side is coming off a victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and most of their players are in top form. Devon Conway's brilliant half-century and Shivam Dubey’s powerful striking gave them a mammoth total. And their bowlers did not lost their composure while defending the target against RCB's attacking batting unit.
On the other hand, the Aiden Markram-led SRH faced a 14-run loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in their previous encounter. Chasing 193, all their batters failed to play responsibly and were bowled out for 178, resulting in their third defeat of the tournament. The visitors are currently ninth in the points table with four points and a win in today's match will be crucial for them to get back on the winning ways.
Meanwhile, Super Kings had lost their last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Chepauk Stadium. CSK bowlers managed to restrict their opponents to 175 runs but their batters could not chase the target as RR bowlers held their nerve in the death overs. SRH will take confidence from RR's win to register their first win at CSK's home ground.
