In the fourth match of the ongoing Road Safety World Series, New Zealand legends locked horns with South Africa legends at Kanpur. It was the Kiwi Legends' skipper Ross Taylor who called it right at the toss and elected to bat first. Aaron Redmond and Anton Devich opened the innings for the Black Caps and looked to fire up in the powerplay. The latter crumbled on the third ball of the innings putting his team on the back foot right away.
It was a poised powerplay as they were wickets falling down at one end and Dean Brownlie hitting maximums at the other. After losing three wickets within the powerplay, the Kiwi legends tried to nick the ball away in the middle overs. However, the strong South African legends' bowlers kept picking up wickets making the road tougher for the New Zealand legends.
In the last four overs, the Kiwi legends managed to score 27 runs and lost two wickets to put up 99 on the board. Dean Brownlie was the guy who top scored with the bat for the Kiwi legends with his 48-ball 48. For the Proteas, it was Johan Botha who nailed the bowling as he bagged a four-for to his name.
South Africa Legends clinch a clinical win
Chasing an easy target, Morne van Wyk and Andrew Puttick marched on to the crease for the Proteas. The team held the upper hand in the first innings and so did they in the second innings as well. The latter was in fine touch right from the start and kept finding boundaries to help the team put up 34 runs in the powerplay. With van Wyk departing right after the powerplay, veteran Alviro Petersen joined Puttick to ease the pressure.
The Proteas' star Andrew Puttick finished the game with two sixes and a boundary of the fourteenth over. South Africa legends clinched the match by nine wickets with as many as 45 balls to spare. Andrew Puttick remained unbeaten on 35 while Petersen scored a decent 29 in his short stay in the crease.

I got really in to cricket when I was 13. Since I was a weird child I was immediately attached to the ones who weren’t the big names. Dean Brownlie and Johan Botha were two of my favourites, for some reason. Quite stoked to see them both doing well in the Road Safety series.

That's brilliant bowling from Johan Botha (4-0-11-4). If this counts as a T20 match then this is his best bowling performance in 222 T20 matches.#NZLvSAL #NZvSA #JohanBotha #RoadSafetyWorldSeries2022 @RSWorldSeries
