The star opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad found himself in a challenging situation before the first ODI against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday. Ruturaj was heading towards the bus and as he approached the driver, who unexpectedly shut the door in his face, leaving him surprised. The video capturing the incident was widely circulated on social media.

Toward the conclusion of the clip, the bus driver was observed making a gesture with his hand toward the stranded batter outside the door. The incident, recorded in the video, swiftly circulated on social media, depicting Gaikwad's awkward endeavor to find an alternative entry. Team India's recent bus journeys have suddenly become quite noteworthy.

A fan-captured video, reminiscent of the incident involving T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav scolding Arshdeep Singh on the bus, went viral. However, it seems to be a lighthearted occurrence, as Suryakumar later shared a story on Instagram, commending Arshdeep's outstanding five-wicket performance in Team India's eight-wicket victory over South Africa in the first ODI. The young India team have been a revelation in the first ODI in both departments.

Ruturaj failed to score in the first ODI

With a convincing eight-wicket win, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The visitors showcased a remarkable bowling performance, restricting the hosts to a mere 116 on a previously used surface. In addition to it, the debutant Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer contributed in the fifties to secure India's victory. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad missed a promising opportunity, getting dismissed for just five runs by Wiaan Mulder in the fourth over of the run chase.

The opening batter sat out in the T20I series due to illness, resulting in Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking up the opening positions. Prior to the South Africa tour, he had been the top run-scorer in the 4-1 T20I series victory against Australia at home. The second ODI is set to take place on December 19.
