Suryakumar Yadav is currently leading the Indian T20I team in the absence of Hardik Pandya and the uncertainty over the future of Rohit Sharma in the Indian T20 setup. Suryakumar Yadav made his debut for India in the T20Is in 2021 and since then he has taken international T20 cricket like a fish to water.

However, he hasn’t been able to replicate his T20I form in the One-Day Internationals as India lost the recent World Cup final against Australia in a heart-wrenching affair. But Suryakumar Yadav looks like a different beast in the T20I format where he has been churning out runs with consistency that too at a rapid pace which makes him the number one T20 batter in the world currently.

Today the attacking Indian batter has added another feather to his cap by becoming the fastest batter in the world to score 2000 T20I runs in terms of balls. Suryakumar Yadav has just taken 1164 balls to achieve this feat. In terms of innings, he scored 2000 T20I runs in just 56 innings in 59 matches equaling the Indian legend Virat Kohli to become the third-fastest batter in terms of innings.

Meanwhile, he also became the fourth Indian batter to cross the mark of 2000 T20I runs after the likes of Virat Kohli (4,008), Rohit Sharma (3,853), and KL Rahul (2,265). Suryakumar Yadav has a phenomenal average of 44 in T20Is with a strike rate of 170 which is the highest for any batter in T20Is with more than 1000 runs.

India is facing  South Africa today in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series and India’s No. T20I batter is leading the team as a standby captain in the T20Is. India lost two early wickets in the first two overs of the match but the skipper steadied the ship with a mix of aggressive batting and holding the fall of any further wickets. Suryakumar played a blistering knock of 56 runs in just 36 balls before departing to Tabrez Shamsi at long-off.

Suryakumar Yadav’s amazing achievement created a huge buzz among Indian fans on social media as they took to Twitter to express their views.
