New achievement for Rinku Singh

India lost the 2nd T20I against South Africa at St George Park in Gqeberha by 5 wickets and is trailing the three-match T20I series by 1-0 after the first of the series at Durban got washed out. India posted a formidable total of 180 runs in 19.3 runs when the rain intervened, therefore South Africa got a revised target of 152 runs in 15 overs which they had chased down comfortably.

Although the India team lost the match,  Rinku Singh came up as a knight with a shining armour for India, playing a sensational knock of 68 runs in just 39 deliveries after being at the No.5 batting position. India was in a precarious position, when Rinku Singh arrived. Singh had taken the international stage like a fish to the water as he played some crucial knocks at a brisk pace coming at No.5, even with the limited opportunities that were available to him.

In a short period, Rinku Singh created a significant impact in the Indian T-20 setup. He etched his name at the fourth position in the list of batters scoring the most number of runs in their first 7 T20I matches.

Here is the list of the batters scoring the most number of runs in their first 7 T20Is:

1. Gautam Gambhir

Dominating the early stages of T20Is, Gautam Gambhir amassed a staggering 227 runs in just six innings of the 2007 World Cup, by leading the pack in total runs scored in over the first seven innings of the tournament.

2. KL Rahul

Although currently out of the T20 set-up, KL Rahul also set the T20 stage on fire by scoring 280 runs in just 7 T20I innings but his strike rate in the powerplay and ability to perform in crunch matches was always under question leading to his ouster from the T20I side.

3. Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda lit up the international stage on fire by hitting a century against Ireland. He scored 274 runs in the initial 7 innings of his career.

4. Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh, the new T20I sensation in India, impressed almost everyone with his maturity and match-winning ability. He already scored 248 runs in his first 7 T20I innings.

5. Suryakumar Yadav

The T20I skipper- Suryakumar Yadav, had recently become the fastest batter to make the quickest 2000 T20I runs in terms of balls. He scored 243 runs in the first 7 innings at the international T20I stage.
