Sachin and Sehwag were different personalities - Sourav Ganguly
He was asked to pick his favourite opening partner between Sehwag and Tendulkar, to which he said,
“Sachin was the most sane one and Sehwag was insane. So it is Sachin. He actually also made me a better player. Sachin actually got me to lift my game,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly was responsible for introducing the next pipeline of youngsters, who played cricket for India when he was at the helm of affairs. He was then asked who the person is that he admires the most. He replied by mentioning Tendulkar’s name and also talked about an interesting anecdote that happened during their playing days.
"Sachin. He was special and I have seen him up close. I have seen him hit in rib cage. Did not make a noise. Got runs. The next morning he had a double fracture in ribs. "I heard a sound and I went and asked him you are okay. He said he was fine. The next morning he had fractures. He was special," Ganguly added.
Sachin and Ganguly blossomed as an opening pair for India. The pair have scored 12,906 runs as an opening combination for India in 257 innings in the 50-over format. Sachin Tendulkar will always be remembered as a classical and one of the most technically sound batters in world cricket and for India, whereas Sehwag is the who changed the game with his aggressive approach when it came to batting.
