'Sorry to fans of Virat Kohli' - Naseer Hussain rates Babar Azam's cover drive as one of the best

Former English skipper Nasser Hussain has favoured Babar Azam’s cover drive over Virat Kohli's. Hussain said in a Cricket’s governing body show that he admires Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Babar Azam.

“I would say sorry to fans of Virat Kohli but Babar Azam has one of the best cover drive. I would suggest budding cricketers to watch Babar Azam play cover drive," Nasser Hussain said to the show host.

When he was asked about players who have mastered the art of cover drives, Nasser Hussain chose the Pakistani batter over the former India skipper. Babar Azam has been at the peak of his form over the last few years. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has been through a slump in his career since November 2019.

Babar Azam currently tops the ODI and T20I rankings with 892 ratings and 818 ratings, respectively. Virat Kohli is out of the top ten of the Test and T20I rankings. Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are considered to be the rivals of the current era, although the duo has been great friends off the field.

Babar Azam played match-winning innings in the recently concluded test series against Sri Lanka. In the second test, he was the only batter to hold the fort while others tumbled. He scored a mammoth score of 174 in the first test and a fantastic 97 in the second test against Sri Lanka.
