‘Sone aaya hai bechara’ – Fans react to Temba Bavuma napping during Captains Day meet before 2023 ODI World Cup

The 2023 ODI World Cup is officially here and ten teams are eyeing the biggest prize in ODI cricket. The tournament begins with defending champions England taking on New Zealand on Thursday. The game will be played in Ahmedabad in front of a capacity crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup, all the ten captains converged for the captain meet. This has been organized by the Apex Cricket Body just like they had done during the 2019 edition.

The entire event was held with a view to know the perspective of each captain ahead of the event. Temba Bavuma the South African skipper though has become the talking point on social media during the event.

Temba Bavuma caught napping during the Captain’s meet

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma is one of the ten captains who are set to take part in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Social media went abuzz when Bavuma was caught sleeping while Shakib Al Hasan was giving his views.

The Protean skipper was flanked by Kane Williamson and Dasun Shanaka. Rohit Sharma was sitting beside Kane Williamson who was seemingly all ears to what the Bangladesh skipper had to say. Dasun Shanaka and Rohit Sharma too were seen listening intently to Shakib Al Hasan.

Kane Williamson’s team had reached the 2019 World Cup final against England. For the first time in World Cup history, the winners were decided after Super-Over. Interestingly even the Super-Over was tied and England won on the basis of boundaries scored.

India will be led by Rohit Sharma and the Indian skipper spoke about the upcoming game against Australia. The 36-year-old said that he and his team are just focusing on the game to be played on Sunday. When asked about India’s chances, Rohit Sharma said that they will do everything possible to win the title.

Babar Azam was asked about his experiences in India so far the Pakistan skipper paid glowing praises. The 29-year-old said that he was overwhelmed by the welcome received and the team felt at ease. The focus now shifts to the tournament on Thursday.
