India’s rising pace sensation, Umran Malik turned 23 on Tuesday. He is currently with the Indian team for the ongoing tour of New Zealand. On the special occasion, several former and current cricketers took to Twitter to extend wishes to the pacer.

Former India pacer, Irfan Pathan, took to his Twitter handle and wrote,

“Wishing the young speedster Umran Malik a very happy birthday. May you break many stumps,”

Former Indian batter, Robin Uthappa also wrote a heartfelt message for the Indian young pacer on his birthday.

“Happy birthday Umran Malik Have a super successful year ahead! Looking forward to watching more of you on the big stage.”, he wrote.

Notably, the Indian Cricket Board took to their Twitter handle to wish Umran Malik on his 23rd birthday.

"Here's wishing #TeamIndia’s young pace sensation @umran_malik_01 a very happy birthday.", the Indian Cricket Board wrote on its Twitter handle.

However, the fans weren't too impressed with the Indian Cricket Board’s post and, rather, criticized them for not giving him enough opportunities on the big stage.

Netizens bombarded the post with some tough questions. It is pertinent to mention that Umran Malik is part of India’s team which is currently playing a T20 series against New Zealand. However, he couldn’t make it into the playing XI in any game.

The first match was whitewashed due to rain, while India won the second match by 65 runs. The third match is currently underway but Umran Malik continues to warm the benches and the fans aren’t happy about that.

Here’s a look at how the fans have reacted to the Indian Cricket Board’s post for Umran Malik:

Following impressive performances for Hyderabad in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League, Umran Malik was handed his maiden India call-up on the Ireland tour. He played a couple of matches against Ireland and then one game against England but hasn’t played any game, since.
