The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup got underway on Sunday. Indian captain won the all-important toss and chose to bowl first. The dangerous opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan walked to the crease to emulate their heroics in the last year’s 20-20 World Cup.

The Indian bowlers were in full swing right from the word go as they made the ball dance to their tunes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the proceedings for India and bowled a brilliant over first up. However, the star of the show turned out to be the left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, who removed both Babar and Rizwan with the new ball.

He first got rid of the Pakistan captain on the very first ball he bowled. The 23-year-old bowled an immaculate in-swinging delivery and trapped him in front of the stumps giving Pakistan their first blow.

He further got rid of Mohammad Rizwan on the last ball of his second over. The Punjab pacer bowled a short ball as Rizwan ended up top edging it to Bhuvneshwar Kumar stationed at fine leg. Arshdeep broke the back of the Pakistan batting sending their two star players back into the pavilion with the score on 15 after four overs.

The Punjab franchise player came back to bowl the 17th over of the innings and added one more wicket to his tally dismissing the dangerous Asif Ali. He bowled a short ball to the right-hander and he ended up gloving it to Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps.

The southpaw redeemed himself in the eyes of the Indian fans after he was subjected to brutal trolling last month for dropping Ali’s catch. Arshdeep dropped the catch of the Pakistan batter in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan in September. India ended up losing the game as Ali played a brilliant knock to take his team home.

Following India’s loss, the left-arm seamer was heavily trolled on social media with some people even calling him anti-national. Twitter was abuzz with reactions on Arshdeep Singh’s brilliant spell. Here are the best Tweets on his magnificent spell:
