Manchester Originals and London Spirit faced each other in the eliminator of The Hundred 2022 at the Rose Bowl stadium. London Spirit captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first in what was a do-or-die match for both teams. Adam Rossington and Zak Crawley opened the innings for the Spirit and the former bagged a duck to make way for in-form batter Ben McDermott.

The in-form batter did not disappoint the team as he scored a neat fifty and perished for 59 off 38 balls and the team started to sink right away. With Zak Crawley making his way back before McDermott, things looked tough for newcomers and the worst nightmare when the skipper Eoin Morgan returned for a golden duck. It was a must-win for the Spirit and the batters failed to emulate their best, to say the least.

On the other hand, the Originals looked on top with their bowlers barging into the wicket with every run-up. Spinners managed to turn the ball and trouble the batters with tight lengths. The only batter to tackle the bowlers was Ravi Bopara as he stood up for his team, yet again. The Spirit managed to put on a total of 150 for the loss of seven wickets.

Manchester Originals make it through to the next round

Manchester Originals openers gave their team a fantastic start as Philip Salt and Laurie Evans got off to a flyer yet again. The duo started finding gaps as and when they wanted and the Originals looked on course to reach the target earlier than expected.

While Liam Dawson deceived Philip Salt, the skipper Laurie Evans never looked like settling down as he carried on with his onslaught. While the Spirit batters failed to stand for the team, the bowlers looked even worse. Chris Wood and Jordan Thompson failed to give their best making things way easier for the Originals.

The Originals managed to thrash the Spirit by five wickets with as many as eleven balls to spare to make it to the finals. Let's take a look at some of the interesting Twitter reactions that came up after the match:
