Pakistan bagged a fantastic win over West Indies in the first match of the three-match ODI series at home. Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam was once again the main man as he scored a brilliant ton while chasing the target of 306 runs.

In this process, he also became the fastest player to cross the 1000 mark run as captain (in 13 innings) by breaking the record of Virat Kohli (17 innings). After such a huge feat and great innings, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raza showered high praises for the batter by taking to his official Twitter account.

Ramiz Raza heaped high praises for the World no.1 batter by stating that he just walked into a hundred and showed the world why he is the best batsman in all formats. He wrote: “A tremendous game. A big thank you to all the fans at the stadium for braving the heat and making it a great day. Multan Zindabad,”

He also showed gratitude to fans for visiting the stadium despite the tremendous heat. After this innings, Babar became the first batter to score three consecutive ODI hundreds twice in his career.

Speaking about the match, after opting for bat, West Indies put up a score of 305 runs with the help of Shai Hope (127 off 134) and Shamarh Brooks (70 off 83). Haris Rauf picked four wickets for Pakistan. In reply, Babar Azam scored 103 off 107 balls along with some support from Mohammad Rizwan (59 off 61) and Imam-ul-Haq (65 off 71). In the end, Khushdil Shah’s unbeaten knock of 41 runs off 23 balls sealed the victory for the home side.

Babar Azam will be in action again as Pakistan will take on West Indies in the second ODI match of the series on 10 June at the same ground.
