Bangladesh Cricket team is in trouble even before they can depart for the ODI World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan has thrown a huge curveball in front of the selectors before the squad is selected. The 36-year-old has threatened to quit captaincy just nine days before the ODI World Cup.
There is a massive controversy brewing in the Bangladeshi camp. Shakib Al Hasan is miffed with one senior player in the squad. Of all the ten teams, Bangladesh is the only team that has yet to name their 15-man squad.
This new development in the Bangladeshi squad involving the senior players will not sit down well. Bangladesh will begin their World Cup against Afghanistan on 7th October at Dharamsala.
Shakib Al Hasan to step down as captain?
Somoy TV which is a Bangladeshi Channel has thrown a huge bombshell. Shakib Al Hasan has threatened his cricket board of stepping down from captaincy. The move comes after his unhappiness with opener Tamim Iqbal.
The left-handed opener as per reports has informed he can only play five games during the World Cup. Tamim Iqbal is just coming back from a lengthy injury lay-off. Shakib for his part isn’t happy with such a proposal. Saif Ahmed Shakib is a known name in Bangladeshi cricket circles.
Saif took to Twitter and quoted Somoy TV with this blockbuster news. The tweet read “According to their report, Tamim Iqbal informed the BCB that if they take him to the World Cup, they have to consider the fact that he is not fully fit and Tamim also informed that he won’t be able to play more than five matches in the World Cup”
