Simona Halep bowed out in the first round of the US Open 2022 against Ukrainian Daria Snigur. Since then, the two-time Grand Slam champion is going through a tough time as her health has put her down this time.

The 31-year-old shared the news of her nose surgery and revealed the reason behind it on her Twitter account. She captioned the tweet, “Hi guys, I have an important message for you. See you soon on the tennis court”.

She shared a note in her tweet, which she mentioned that she was going through nose block issues and the doctor had suggested surgery. The Romania-born further added that she was suffering from a blocked nose throughout various nights.

“Hi everyone, As some might already know, I have been struggling for a while with nose problems and it got worse during the summer especially in Washington. This problem made it hard to breath and even worse during the nights as I was going through complete blocked nose. The only way to solve the problem was to undergo a surgery,” Halep said in her Tweet.

“The doctor Daniel Popescu has performed it and taken this opportunity to also make a plastic surgery intervention. Thank you! l also want to thank my anesthesiologist Dr Uleia Alex. Everything went well. I will need a few weeks of rest before I can start again any physical activity. See you soon on the tennis court,” she added further.

Simona Halep’s stunning record

The 31-year-old bowed out of the Flushing Meadows in the very first round this year. But that doesn’t take away the fact that she is a star in her country. The Tennis star was ranked number one between 2017 and 2019 for 64 weeks straight.
